Sadness

The news continues to place this horror in our laps, as it should.  It makes me sad though to read the blogs of people leaving the Church.  They are suffering too and this is their response.  I understand but it compounds the sadness I feel when I think of the victims – where will they go to find the Lord.  Yes, there are other Christian denominations – other religions in fact but the Lord is present in our Churches, he is our founder, the Church is his body.  And so I am saddened by the pain of the victims of abuse and for those who don’t find Christ in our midst.

Christ is the only one who can heal this wound.  Let us pray to him that he not hide his face or love from us in this, our hour of need.  Let him not hide his face and love from all victims of child sex abuse.  Yes, the Church scandal is terrible but there are so many, many more victims out there.  Let us all pray:

Prayer for Those Who Suffer

For those who suffer,
and those who cry this night,
give them repose, Lord;
a pause in their burdens.
Let there be minutes
where they experience peace,
not of man
but of angels.
Love them, Lord,
when others cannot.
Hold them, Lord,
when we fail with human arms.
Hear their prayers
and give them the ability to hear You back
in whatever language they best understand.
