Pope Anniversary

Many in the press are making out that the Pope’s papacy is a failure.  I admire him more today than 5 years ago.  He sat there and listened to his brothers elect him Pope knowing what he would face.  Think about it.  From all we’ve learned about the Maciel business, his coming to the US in 2008 in one of his first extended pilgrimages:  He knew and was willing to take the sin of sexual abuse on  himself.  He didn’t let someone else take it on – he could have.  Those who think he’s power-hungry and wanted the job will dismiss me but I think most know that he didn’t want the job.  No sane person would.  No, he has allowed himself to be the one to take it on his shoulders, to suffer for them, us and the Church.  To what end, we don’t know but I’m sure the Lord has a plan for us all, and that healing will come from it.

For strength that the Pope will be an instrument of His peace

Our Father:  Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  Amen.

Modified Prayer of St. Francis:  Lord, Make Benedict an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred, let him sow love; where there is injury, pardon: where there is doubt, faith ; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that he does not so much seek to be consoled as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love;for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal LifeAmen

Hail Mary: Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with you.  Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary Mother of God pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory Be:  Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Hear my prayer Lord. Thank you. Amen
